Bei der Kupferberg Mülldeponie wurden heute gefälschte Waren im Wert von rund N$ 5 Millionen zerstört. Betroffen waren dabei vor allem gefälschte Turnschuhe, T-Shirts, Rucksäcke und Handys. Auch Desinfektionsmittel gehörten zu den vernichteten Gütern. Die Produkte wurden zuvor von Zollbeamten an verschiedenen Orten in Namibia sichergestellt. Auf Nachfrage von Hitradio Namibia erklärte NAMRA-Kommunikationsleiter Steven Ndorokaze, dass die Produkte nicht einfach an Bedürftige gespendet werden könnten. Dies liege an den gesetzlichen Regelungen Namibias und der Verletzung von Urheberrechten. Außerdem sei zu bedenken, dass die Waren nicht die Kriterien der Produktsicherheit erfüllten.
