Die traditionelle Gemeinschaft der Hambukushu droht mit einer Klage gegen den Staat rund um ihr traditionelles Siedlungsgebiet im Bwabwata-Nationalpark. Sollte es keine einvernehmliche Einigung hierzu geben, müssten die Gerichte entscheiden, heißt es im Namibian. Die Hambukushu bemängeln, dass die Proklamation der Siedlungsgebiete im Nationalpark ohne Rücksprache mit ihnen stattgefunden hat. Bwabwata ist einer der wenigen Nationalparks in dem überhaupt Menschen siedeln dürfen. Der Regierung nach sei das Gebiet seit weit mehr als 100 Jahren als Schutzgebiet proklamiert worden. Vorgestern waren Vertreter der Hai||om-San mit einem Antrag auf Siedlung und Nutzungsrecht am Etosha-Nationalpark gescheitert.
