In Südafrika fahren hunderttausende Autofahrer mit abgelaufenen Führerscheinen, weil die einzige dafür genutzte Druckmaschine gerade in Deutschland repariert wird. Verkehrsminister Fikile Mbalula kündigte am Mittwochabend eine Übergangslösung bis Ende März sowie neuartige Führerscheine an, die auf der ersten Kabinettssitzung des Jahres genehmigt werden sollen. Die Maschine war nach Medienberichten die einzige, die von den in den 1990er Jahren angeschafften Druckern noch in Betrieb war. In Südafrika muss der Führerschein alle fünf Jahre erneuert werden.
