Das Kabinett hat ein Hilfsprogramm für die Betroffenen der Überschwemmungen im Norden des Landes bewilligt. Laut Informationsminister Peya Mushelenga soll es insgesamt N$ 72 Millionen umfassen. Darin eingeschlossen sind Hilfsgüter wie Zelte, Matrazen oder Moskitonetze. Gleichzeitig sollen über einen Zeitraum von 16 Monaten aber auch Nahrungsmittel ausgegeben werden. Auch die psychosoziale Betreuung der Betroffenen soll erfolgen und Schulen wieder einsatzfähig gemacht werden. Das Landwirtschaftsministerium wurde zudem angewiesen, einen Plan zur nachhaltigen Nutzung des Flutwassers zu erstellen. Dies war zuletzt unter anderem durch die IPC gefordert worden.
