Das chinesische Bauunternehmen Longjian darf nach eigenen Angaben zehn Industrieparks in Walvis Bay errichten. Das teilte das Unternehmen in einer börslichen Erklärung mit. Der namibische Auftrag habe einen Wert von umgerechnet etwa 1,8 Milliarden Namibia Dollar. Die Industrieparks sollen auf einer Fläche von 3000 Hektar in der Hafenstadt errichtet werden und Teil der Sonderwirtschaftszone sein. Das finanzielle Bauvolumen entspricht etwa dem bisherigen jährlichen internationalen Umsatz von Longjian. Der Bau werde insgesamt zehn Jahre dauern. Ziel der Industrieparks ist es, den Umschlag im Hafen von Walvis Bay weiter anzukurbeln. Eine Anfrage hierzu an die Stadtverwaltung von Walvis Bay blieb bis Redaktionsschluss unbeantwortet.
