In Simbabwe ist ein Termin für die Nachwahlen festgelegt worden. Sie waren nötig geworden, nachdem die ursprünglichen Abstimmungen im Jahr 2020 aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie verschoben worden waren. Die Wahlen sollen laut Präsident Emmerson Mnangagwa nun am 26. März stattfinden. Insgesamt stehen 28 Sitze in der Nationalversammlung zur Abstimmung. Zudem müssen 105 Sitze in den Lokalverwaltungen des Landes neu besetzt werden. Die Registrierung der Kandidaten soll Ende Januar erfolgen. Die Nachwahlen gelten auch als Stimmungstest für die Parlaments – und Präsidentschaftswahlen im kommenden Jahr.
