In Okahandja hat eine große Recyclinganlage für Plastik eröffnet. Das Werk ist aus einer Partnerschaft von Coca-Cola Africa und Plastic Packaging hervorgegangen. In der Anlage sollen PET-Behälter, vor allem Plastikflaschen, geschreddert werden. Durch das Projekt werde die Kapazität in Namibia mehr als verdoppelt. Bisher gab es nur einen mechanischen Recycler im ganzen Land. Nun könne Namibia Polymer Recyclers bis zu 500 Tonnen PET pro Monat recyclen. Die Anlage hat 24 Millionen Namibia Dollar gekostet. Coca-Cola komme damit seinem globalen Ziel einen Schritt näher, bis 2030 mindestens 50 Prozent recyceltes Plastik in seinen Flaschen zu nutzen.
