Südafrikas Präsident Cyril Ramaphosa hat eine Überarbeitung des UN-Sicherheitsrats gefordert. Die Zusammensetzung des Gremiums müsse die globale Situation besser repräsentieren. Dass Afrika mit seinen 1,3 Milliarden Einwohnern im UN-Sicherheitsrat keine Stimme habe, sei Grund zur Sorge, so Ramaphosa. Auch der aktuelle Konflikt in der Ukraine zeige die Schwächen der Vereinten Nationen. Ramaphosa vermied dabei erneut eine direkte Verurteilung Russlands für den Krieg in der Ukraine. Er rief lediglich beide Seiten zu einer umgehenden Waffenstillstand auf.
