Schwerste Regenfälle haben in Teilen Südafrikas erneut zu Überschwemmungen geführt. Einer dpa-Meldung nach sind Straßen und Brücken zerstört worden und viele Dämme übergelaufen. Betroffen sind insbesondere die Provinzen Ostkap und KwaZulu-Natal. Es sollen bisher mindestens 14 Menschen in den Fluten ums Leben gekommen sein. Vielerorts müssen Bewohner von Rettungskräften mit Booten aus ihren Häusern geholt werden. Auch für die kommenden Tage sind überdurchschnittlich starke Niederschläge vorausgesagt. Diese begannen bereits vor gut vier Wochen.
