Nach zwei coronabedingten Krisenjahren hat sich die südafrikanische Wirtschaft wieder erholt. Laut der Statistikbehörde des Landes wuchs die Wirtschaft im ersten Quartal des Jahres um 1,9 Prozent. Das Bruttoinlandsprodukt des Landes war damit erstmals wieder höher als noch vor Beginn der Pandemie. Insgesamt acht der 10 Wirtschaftszweige Südafrikas konnten zuletzt ein Wachstum verzeichnen. Vor allem im herstellenden Sektor ging es zuletzt wieder bergauf. Gleichzeitig warnte die Statistikagentur aber auch, dass sich die wirtschaftlichen Auswirkungen der verheerenden Fluten in der Provinz KwaZulu-Natal erst im nächsten Quartalsbericht niederschlagen werden.
