Auch Südafrika hat den Angriffskrieg Russlands auf die Ukraine nicht klar verurteilt. Das Außenministerium habe zwar Medienberichten zufolge Russland aufgefordert seine Armee aus dem Nachbarland abzuziehen. Das entspricht aber nicht der offiziellen Stellungnahme der Regierung. Demnach sind die Konfliktparteien nur aufgerufen, sich an den Verhandlungstisch zu begeben. Man wünsche sich eine friedliche Lösung, heißt es im offiziellen Communiqué. Zuvor hatte auch Namibia den Angriff nicht klar verurteilt. Die Afrikanische Union hingegen hatte in Bezug auf Russland von einem klaren Verstoß gegen internationales Gesetz gesprochen.
