Die Menschenrechtskommission der Vereinten Nationen hat die Regierung von Eswatini aufgefordert, die Menschenrechte zu wahren. Kommissionssprecherin Liz Throssell erklärte dazu, dass man Berichte über den unrechtmäßigen Einsatz von Gewalt und Schusswaffen erhalten habe. Diese Vorwürfe müssten umgehend und transparent untersucht werden. Auf den sozialen Medien machen trotz der Internetabschaltung derweil immer mehr Videos von vermeintlicher Gewalt durch Sicherheitskräfte in dem Königreich die Runde. Die Menschenrechtsorganisation Amnesty International hatte das Vorgehen der Regierung in Eswatini zuletzt als Frontalangriff auf die Menschenrechte bezeichnet. Dutzende Menschen seien bereits getötet worden.
