In den ersten zwei Monaten des Jahres hält der Rückgang der Unfälle auf Namibias Straßen weiter an. Dem Verkehrsunfallfonds MVA nach, gab es bisher 368 Verkehrsunfälle landesweit. Dabei wurden 630 Personen verletzt und 56 kamen ums Leben. Gegenüber dem gleichen Vorjahreszeitraum bedeutet dies ein Rückgang von 18 Prozent bei den Unfällen, 23 Prozent bei den Verletzten und 17 Prozent bei den Verkehrstoten. In der vergangenen Woche entfielen die meisten Unfälle auf Zusammenstöße mit anderen Fahrzeugen oder unbeweglichen Gegenständen, sogenannten „Rollovers“ ohne Fremdeinwirkung und Kollisionen mit Fußgängern.
