Die australische Bergbaufirma Omico Mining Corp. plant eine weitere Kupfer-Mine in Zentralnamibia. Das sogenannte Omitiomire Copper Project soll rund 120 Kilometer nordöstlich von Windhoek entstehen. Laut der Bergbaukammer würden aktuell metallurgische Tests durchgeführt werden. Das Unternehmen selbst hofft, noch in diesem Jahr die dazugehörige Machbarkeitsstudie abschließen zu können. Mit einer Bergbaulizenz bis 2036 sollen dort im offenen Tagebau jährlich 30.000 Tonnen Kupfer gefördert werden. Der Kostenaufwand wird mit umgerechnet etwa N$ 4,5 Milliarden angegeben.
