Acht Menschen sind in den vergangenen zwei Jahren in Namibia bei Angriffen von Krokodilen ums Leben gekommen. Die eigentlich vom Staat vorgesehene Kompensation furch einen Wildtierangriff sei, so berichtet der Namibian, vielfach nicht ausgezahlt worden. Laut dem Umweltministeriums stünde den Angehörigen eine Einmalzahlung von 100.000 Namibia Dollar zu. Vielfach seien die Menschen in den flussnahen Gebieten darauf angewiesen Wasser aus diesen zu holen und ihre Wäsche zu waschen. Sauberes Trinkwasser aus Hähnen sei häufig zig Kilometer entfernt.
