In der letzten Novemberwoche sind insgesamt acht mutmaßliche Wilderer verhaftet worden. Das teilte das Umweltministerium mit. Bei ihnen wurden unter anderem Pyton- und Leopardenhäute gefunden. Zudem stellte die Polizei Elandfleisch und ein Zebra-Kadaver sicher. Bei den Verdächtigen handelt es sich um vier namibische Staatsbürger, sowie drei Sambier und einen Angolaner. Die vier ausländischen Staatsbürger wurden wegen des Besitzes von gewildertem Fleisch noch in der vergangenen Woche zu Geldstrafen von je N$ 1200 verurteilt.
