Die Anti-Korruptionskommission (ACC) hat einen Beamten der Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA) verhaftet. Dem Verdächtigen wird vorgeworfen, Maiskörner aus AMTA-Silos verkauft und Privatkonten für die Zahlungen angegeben zu haben. Mit dieser Masche sollen zuletzt 80 Tonnen aus dem Silo in Katima Mulilo an einen Müller verkauft worden sein. Der Mais hat einen Wert von N$ 280.000. Laut der ACC wurde der 49-Jährige am Freitag verhaftet, er soll heute erstmals vor dem Magistratsgericht in Katima Mulilo erscheinen. Die AMTA ist eine Regierungsbehörde, ihr obliegt unter anderem die Verwaltung der strategischen Nahrungsmittelreserven Namibias.
