Das australische Bergbauunternehmen Askari Metals Limited hat 90 Prozent der Anteile am Lithium-Zinn-Projekt nahe Uis erworben. Das Projekt liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe zur bereits bestehenden Zinn-Mine von AfriTin Mining. Die Kosten belaufen sich demnach auf umgerechnet etwa N$ 20 Millionen. Nach Angaben von Askari Metals sollen bereits im November erste Probebohrungen vor Ort durchgeführt werden. Entsprechende Genehmigungen würden bereits vorliegen. Die vorherigen Eigentümer LeRox Exploration Services hätten zudem schon im Juli Proben mit vielversprechenden Ergebnissen genommen, heißt es weiter.
