Die Zahl der Malariafälle im Land steigt scheinbar weiter deutlich an. Der Gesundheits-Regionaldirektor aus Ohangwena meldete zuletzt fast 350 Fälle binnen eines Monats. Dies sind fast drei Mal so viel wie im gleichen Vorjahresmonat. Insgesamt gab es 2021 nahezu 1000 Fälle in Ohangwena. Positiv sei, dass lediglich eine Person an der Krankheit verstorben ist. Insgesamt sei Namibia aber weiterhin auf einem sehr guten Weg die Malaria auszurotten. Während es vor 15 Jahren noch fast 30.000 Krankenhausaufenthalte von Malariapatienten waren, sind es nun weniger als 500.
