Mit Hannelie Prinsloo und Esi Schimming-Chase sind erstmals zwei namibische Frauen zu Richterinnen am Obersten Gericht des Landes berufen worden. Chief Justice Peter Shivute vereidigte die beiden Richterinnen heute. Der Exekutivdirektor im Büro für Justizwesen, Bernhardt Kukuri, sprach dazu gegenüber Future Media von einem historischen Tag: „Ich denke, wir sollten heute feiern. Den jungen Namibiern zeigt dies, dass es möglich ist alsm Junge oder Mädchen Richter am Obersten Gericht zu werden.” Prinsloo und Schimming-Chase sind beide bereits Richterinnen am Obergericht. Ihre Amtszeit gilt zunächst bis zum 31. März 2024.
