Ein Löwe hat gestern in der Nähe der Stadt Katima Mulilo einen Mann angegriffen. Dies wurde vom Umweltministerium bestätigt. Es sei bekannt, dass sich Löwen in der Sambesi-Region auhielten. Mehrere Nutztiere wurden bereits angegriffen und verletzt. Ein Mähnenlöwe wurde gestern vom Umweltministerium erschossen, das Weibchen soll entkommen sein. Nach Angaben von Romeo Muyunda, Sprecher des Umweltministeriums, sei man immer noch damit beschäftigt, die Löwin aufzuspüren. In der Zwischenzeit bittet das Umweltministerium die Gemeinden dringend, wachsam zu bleiben und dem Ministerium jede Sichtung zu melden.
