Tansania hat mit dem Einfangen von 20 Pferdeantilopen begonnen, um sie an Kenia zu übergeben. Dies berichtete die chinesische Nachrichtenagentur Xhinua. Ein Staatssekretär im Ministerium für natürliche Ressourcen und Tourismus sagte, dass die Pferdeantilopen im Rungwa-Wildreservat, einem 9000 Quadratkilometer großen Schutzgebiet gefangen werden sollen. Ein Abkommen zwischen Tansania und Kenia sieht den Austausch von Pferdeantilopen und weiblichen Spitzmaulnashörnern vor. Dadurch soll die Fortpflanzung der beiden Arten gesichert werden. Nach Angaben der Präsidentin von Tansania gibt es in ihrem Land derzeit etwa 4000 Pferdeantilopen, während Kenia nur zwölf dieser Art besitzt.
