In Walvis Bay sind rund 1500 arbeitslose Fischer wieder eingestellt worden. Das gab Erongo Gouverneur Neville Andre laut Nampa in seiner Rede zur Lage der Region bekannt. Die Betroffenen waren teilweise nach der Beteiligung an illegalen Streiks bereits vor Jahren gefeuert worden. Die Regierung habe dabei mit sechs Fischereiunternehmen Abkommen geschlossen, um Arbeitsplätze für die 1500 Personen zu schaffen. Gleichzeitig gab Andre zu Protokoll, dass einige der Fischer unzufrieden mit den Bedingungen in ihren Arbeitsverträgen seien. Diese Probleme würden aktuell durch das Fischereiministerium aussortiert.
