Der fünfte Nationale Entwicklungsplan (NDP) für Namibia soll in enger Abstimmung mit den Regionen erarbeitet werden. Dies kündigte Tom Alweendi, Präsidialminister für die Nationale Entwicklung, an. Zunächst werden alle 14 Regionen konsultiert und öffentliche Treffen durchgeführt, bevor an die Entwicklung des Plans gegangen wird. Es gehe um die Aufarbeitung der 26 Jahre seit der Unabängigkeit Namibias und eine Formulierung von Zielen zur Erreichung der Vision 2030. Der NDP-5 gelte vom 1. April 2017 bis 31. März 2022.
15 Jahre Haft hat die Staatsanwaltschaft für den ehemaligen paralympischen Superstar Oscar Pistorius gefordert. Staatsanwalt Gerrie Nel sagte bei seiner Begründung für das Strafmaß, dass Pistorius bisher immer noch keine Reue gezeigt habe. Vielmehr sei er weiterhin der Auffassung einen schweren Fehler gemacht zu haben, jedoch sehe er die Tragweite seiner Tat nicht ein. Pistorius‘ Anwalt Barry Roux forderte eine Strafe unter dem Mindestmaß, da Pistorius bereits bestraft war, eine Haftstrafe verbüßt habe und von der Gesellschaft ohnehin nicht mehr akzeptiert werde. – Das Strafmaß soll am 6. Juli verkündet werden.
Gut einen Monat nach ihrem Amtsantritt hat die brasilianische Übergangsregierung bereits den dritten Minister aufgrund von Korruptionsvorwürfen verloren. Der Tourismusminister des Landes gab gestern seinen Amtsverzicht bekannt. Grund: ihm wird vorgeworfen umgerechnet fast 400.000 Euro vom Ölkonzern Petrobras angenommen zu haben.
Bernie Sanders lässt nicht locker. Obwohl der demokratische Bewerber um die US-Präsidentschaftskandidatur hinter seiner innerparteilichen Konkurrentin Hillary Clinton zurückliegt, will er seinen Anspruch nicht aufgeben. Die Revolution müsse weitergehen, sagte Sanders in einer Videobotschaft. Er wolle die Demokratische Partei erneuern. Dabei ließ er jedoch auch durchblicken, dass er das im Zweifel auch an der Seite von Hillary Clinton erreichen will.
