Die Road Fund Administration (RFA) unterstützt Pläne zur Einführung einer Straßenmaut in Namibia. Laut RFA-Geschäftsführer Ali Ipinge koste die Instandhaltung der Straßen jährlich rund N$ 4,3 Milliarden. Laut New Era stünden aber nur rund N$ 2,5 Milliarden zur Verfügung. Eine Möglichkeit, diese Lücke in der Finanzierung zu schließen, sieht die RFA in der Einführung von Mautgebühren. Auch die Straßenbehörde RA hatte zuletzt erklärt, dass dies eine Möglichkeit zur nachhaltigen Finanzierung der Instandhaltung von Namibas Straßen sei.
