Nach dem Etango-Uranprojekt hat das Bergbauministerium nun auch eine Lizenz für das Tumas-Projekt von Reptile Uranium Namibia erteilt. Das teilte der Mutterkonzern Deep Yellow Limited in dieser Woche mit. Die Lizenz ist demnach für 20 Jahre gültig. Dies sei ein entscheidender Schritt hin zur Entwicklung von Deep Yellow zu einem Langzeitproduzenten von Uran, so CEO John Borshoff. Das Unternehmen will im dritten Quartal 2024 eine endgültige Investitionsentscheidung zu dem Projekt treffen. Schätzungen zufolge sollen im geplanten Abbaugebiet rund 67 Millionen Pfund Uranoxid liegen. Das Tumas-Projekt liegt südöstlich von der Langer Heinrich Mine auf Höhe von Walvis Bay.
