Das australische Bergbauunternehmen Bannerman Energy Limited hat nach eigenen Angaben die Bergbaulizenz für das geplante Etango-Uranprojekt erhalten. Einer Pressemitteilung zufolge will das Unternehmen nun umgehend eine temporäre Wasserleitung und eine Zufahrt zu der geplanten Mine bauen. Bannerman-Geschäftführer Brandon Munro sprach dabei von einem Meilenstein für das Unternehmen und die Anteilseigner. Die ersten Investitionen in dieses Projekt seien bereits 2006 getätigt worden. Die ersten Bauarbeiten sollen in den kommenden vier bis sechs Monaten abgeschlossen werden. Die neue Mine soll wenige Kilometer östlich von Swakopmund entstehen und liegt deutlich näher an der Küstenstadt als die bestehenden Minen Husab, Rössing und Langer Heinrich.
