Heute ist das Equiano-Unterseekabel in Namibia angelandet. Dies teilte das Telekommunikationsunternehmen Paratus in einer Erklärung mit. Das Kabel wird in Zukunft eine deutlich bessere und schnellere Kommunikation für Namibia ermöglichen. Die Kapazität für das Land werde sich verzwanzigfachen, die Internetgeschwindigkeit wird sich um mindestens 250 Prozent verbessert. Der Betrieb kann wohl im vierten Quartal aufgenommen werden. Analysten nach können die positiven Auswirkungen des Kabels bis zu 21.000 Arbeitsplätze bis 2025 in Namibia schaffen. Equiano wurde von Portugal bis Kapstadt im Atlantik gelegt.
