Das Wasserministerium hat eine Flutwarnung für zahlreiche Flussgebiete des Landes ausgegeben. Anhaltend gute Regenfälle in weiten Teilen des südlichen Afrikas würden die Flusspegel vielerorts deutlich anschwellen lassen. Besondere Vorsicht ist demnach um den Oranje geboten, dessen Pegel zuletzt innerhalb von nur drei Tagen um über 2,5 Meter anstieg. Gleichzeitig wird erwartet, dass der Sambesi in den kommenden Tagen die Überschwemmungsgebiete der Region fluten wird. Warnungen gibt es aber auch für das Cuvelai-Etosha-Becken im Norden, den Kunene, den Okavango, den Kuiseb und Teile des Fischflusses.
