Präsident Hage Geingob erwartet noch in diesem Jahr die ersten N$ 100 Millionen an Konzessionszahlungen für die geplanten Wasserstoff-Projekte in Namibia. Das teilte das Staatsoberhaupt in seiner Neujahrsansprache mit. Die Gelder von den bevorzugten Bietern sollen laut Geingob eine unmittelbare Entlastung für den Fiskus bringen. Namibia werde durch diese neue Industrie seine Energiebilanz deutlich verbessern und zum globalen Champion der Entkarbonisierung aufsteigen. Gleichzeitig forderte Geingob verstärkte Anstrengungen um das Investitionspotential Namibias zu maximieren.
