Der Staat macht bei der Umsetzung des neuen Informationsgesetztes Ernst. Insgesamt 60 Pressesprecher von Ministerien und anderen staatlichen Einrichtungen befinden sich derzeit in einer einwöchigen Trainingsphase, um die Inhalte des Gesetzes zum Zugang zu Informationen bestmöglich umsetzen zu können. Die Eröffnung des Workshops fand durch Informationsminister Peya Mushelenga statt. Ziel des neuen Gesetzes ist es, den Zugang zu staatlichen Informationen zu erleichtern, um die Transparenz zu erhöhen. Namibia leiste damit einen weiteren Beitrag dazu, seine Spitzenposition in Afrika bei der Pressefreiheit zu behaupten.
