In Windhoek hat gestern ein dreitägiges Treffen verschiedener Interessensvertreter zur Situation von Straßenkindern begonnen. Ziel der Zusammenkunft soll die Ausarbeitung von dauerhaften Lösungen für die Problematik sein. Laut Vizesozialministerin Bernadette Jagger sei die Anzahl der auf der Straße lebenden Kinder in Namibia deutlich ansteigend. In erster Linie handele es sich um Jungen, aber zuletzt würden auch immer mehr Mädchen registriert. Als Gründe führte die Vizeministerin Missbrauch, Vernachlässigung und Armut an. Aber auch Gruppenzwang und Abenteuerlust würden eine Rolle spielen.
