Die Zahl der Toten nach einer Lebensmittelvergiftung im Nordosten des Landes steigt weiter. Polizeisprecherin Kauna Shikwambi erklärte nun gegenüber der Nachrichtenagentur AFP, dass mittlerweile 15 Personen verstorben sind. Dies ist laut Shikwambi die bislang größte Zahl von Todesfällen, die vermutlich auf die Einnahme von möglicherweise giftigem Material zurückzuführen ist. Insgesamt hatten 17 Personen einer Familie über Vergiftungserscheinungen geklagt, nachdem sie bei einem Essen unter anderem Sedimente von selbst gebrautem Bier verzehrt hatten. Die labortechnischen Untersuchungen sind weiterhin ausstehend.
