Hitradio Namibia Meine Musik. Mein Sender.
Das südafrikanische Telekommunikationsunternehmen MTN hat sich offenbar komplett aus Namibia zurückgezogen. Laut The Brief wurde der Verkauf an den lokalen Partner im August abgeschlossen. Die namibische Profile Investment Holdings hält nun 100 Prozent an dem umbenannten Unternehmen „Ucom Mobile“. Ziel sei es nun, dass lange geplante Mobilfunknetz aufzubauen. Zunächst sei binnen zwei Jahre der Aufbau von 150 Türmen, vor allem in ländlichen Gebieten, mit einem Partner vorgesehen. MTN, eine der größten Telekommunikationsanbieter in Afrika und dem Nahen Osten, war mehr als 20 Jahre in Namibia aktiv. Auf Nachfrage von Hitradio Namibia wollte sich das Unternehmen nicht zu dem Verkauf äußern.
