Der namibische Telekommunikationssektor zeigt das klassische Bild eines Monopols. Dies geht aus dem Oktober-Sektorbericht der Regulierungsbehörde CRAN hervor. Seit 2012 sinken Einnahmen und Vermögen und lediglich der Gewinn steige. Der namibische Staat kontrolliere indirekt 92 Prozent des Vermögens in dem Sektor und knapp 83 Prozent des Umsatzes. Der Anteil des großen privaten Players, Paratus, stieg aber auf mittlerweile mehr als acht Prozent des Sektor weiten Umsatzes. Telecom Namibia verliere unaufhörlich weiter an Boden gegenüber MTC, geht aus dem Bericht hervor.
