Öffentliche Bedienstete stimmen über möglichen Streik ab. Der Regierung droht ein Streik seiner Angestellten. Die beiden Gewerkschaften NAPWU und NANTU haben ihre Mitglieder nun aufgerufen, Ende dieser Woche über eine Arbeitsniederlegung abzustimmen. Das berichtet die New Era. Hintergrund sind die seit Monaten stagnierenden Gehaltsverhandlungen mit der Regierung. Informationsminister Peya Mushelenga hatte zuletzt in der Nationalversammlung noch einmal betont, dass es keinen finanziellen Spielraum für Gehaltserhöhungen gebe. Sollten die Angestellten für den Streik stimmen, könnte dies nach NAPWU-Angaben die größte Arbeitsniederlegung in der Geschichte Namibias werden. Im öffentlichen Sektor in Namibia sind ungefähr 100.000 Menschen angestellt.
