In Südafrika soll womöglich der Kampf gegen COVID19 neu aufgestellt werden. Dazu rief zumindest das Beratungsgremium zur Pandemie MAC Gesundheitsminister Joe Phaahla auf. Demnach sei es nicht mehr wirtschaftlich vertretbar, wenn Kontakte von positiven Fällen in Quarantäne müssen. Dies bringe nicht nur ökonomische, sondern auch nachhaltig soziale Probleme mit sich, heißt es vom MAC laut News24. Man gehe davon aus, dass 60 bis 80 Prozent der Südafrikaner bereits eine gewisse Form von Immunität gegen COVID19 aufgebaut hätten, sei es durch Erkrankung oder Impfung. Kontaktnachverfolgung und Quarantäne stünden deshalb in keinem Verhältnis mehr zum Nutzen.
