Im Hafen von Walvis Bay sind rund 21.000 Tonnen Zucker aus Brasilien eingetroffen. Der Zucker ist für Botswana bestimmt. Er wurde am Trockenhafen des Nachbarlandes in Walvis Bay angelandet. Laut NamPort sei dies ein wichtiger Schritt um den Hafen als Drehkreuz für brasilianische Importe für die Märkte in der gesamten SADC-Region zu etablieren. Weitere 15.000 Tonnen Zucker für Botswana werden in der zweiten Hälfte des Jahres erwartet.
