Der Bau des ersten Wasserstoff-Kraftwerks in Namibia soll bereits Anfang 2023 begonnen werden. Das berichtet die Nachrichtenagentur Xinhua unter Berufung auf den Stadtrat von Swakopmund. Demnach habe sich das französische Unternehmen HDF Energy rund 400 Hektar östlich der Küstenstadt gesichert. Die Regierung habe zudem grünes Licht für den Bau gegeben. Das Kraftwerk soll ingesamt rund N$ 3 Milliarden kosten und durch Solarpanele etwa 90 MW Strom zur Produktion von Wasserstoff liefern. Es wäre das erste Wasserstoff-Kraftwerk auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent.
