Die Universität von Namibia (UNAM) und die Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (BOKU) wollen in einem neuen Projekt gemeinsam das Kunststoffabfall-Management in Namibia verbessern. Laut Projektleiter Sadrag Shihomeka wird sich das Projekt vor allem auf Haushaltsabfälle konzentrieren. Erste Proben sollen nun genommen und in Windhoek und Wien analysiert werden. Finanziert werden soll das zunächst auf zwei Jahre angesetzte Projekt durch das österreichische Bildungsministerium. Die Ergebnisse sollen noch 2023 in Windhoek vorgestellt werden.
