Die ruandischen Truppen machen in Mosambik weiter Fortschritte im Kampf gegen Islamisten. Dies teilte das ruandische Verteidigungsministerium mit. So seien bei zahlreichen Angriffen mindestens 14 Terroristen getötet worden. 1000 ruandische Soldaten sind derzeit in der nördlichen Provinz Cabo Delgado im Einsatz. Sie werden demnächst durch reguläre Truppen der SADC-Mission aus Südafrika, Simbabwe und Botswana unterstützt. Ziel sei es kurzfristig die Sicherheit in der Grenzregion zu Tansania wiederherzustellen. Islamistische Angriffe haben mindestens 800.000 Mosambikaner aus ihrer Heimat vertrieben. Mehr als 3000 sollen in den vergangenen Jahren ums Leben gekommen sein.
