Namibias Kandidat für den Posten des Präsidenten der Pan-Afrikanischen Universität PAU erhält die volle Unterstützung der SADC. Dies teilte das Außenministerium mit. Demnach habe man gestern zum Auftakt des 41. SADC-Gipfels im malawischen Lilongwe die Staatengemeinschaft darum gebeten. Der Vize-Kanzler der UNAM, Kenneth Matengu, wird sich somit im Oktober bei der Afrikanischen Union um diese Position bewerben. Namibia wurde bei dem Gipfel von Vizestaatspräsident Nangolo Mbumba vertreten. Er wird unter anderem Außenministerin Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah begleitet. Die PAU ist ein afrikaweiter Zusammenschluss zahlreicher Universitäten und Forschungseinrichtungen.
