Der Veterinärdienst des Landwirtschaftsministeriums hat die MKS-Restriktionen in der Region Sambesi gelockert. Dies ist die erste Erleichterung seit Mai, als erstmals eine nur aus Sambia bekannte Variante der Maul- und Klauensuche in der Region nachgewiesen wurden. Nun seien zwei Runden von Impfungen an Rindern abgeschlossen und mehr als 80 Prozent der Tiere erreicht worden. Der letzte nachgewiesene MKS-Fall liegt nun gut sechs Wochen zurück. Restriktionen gibt es nun nur noch in den Wahlkreisen Kabbe-Süd und -Nord und Katima Mulilo Land. Der Ausbruch kann insgesamt erst drei Monate nach dem letzten Fall für beendet erklärt werden.
