Der Kampf gegen radikale Islamisten im Norden Mosambiks befinde sich in der entscheidenden Phase. Dieser Meinung zeigten sich der mosambikanische Staatspräsident Filipe Nyusi und sein ruandischer Amtskollege Paul Kagame bei einem gemeinsamen Besuch vor Ort. Die Truppen beider Staaten hätten gute Fortschritte in der Unruheprovinz Cabo Delgado gefeiert. Es gäbe keine unüberwindbaren Probleme, sagte Nyusi. Gemeinsam mit den SADC-Truppen aus Südafrika, Botswana und Simbabwe werde man weiter gegen die Islamisten vorgehen. Seit 2017 haben mehr als 3000 Menschen in dem Konflikt ihr Leben verloren, fast 900.000 mussten ihre Heimat verlassen.
