Die jüngste Versteigerung von Fangrechten für Bastardmakrelen war offenbar ein Flop. Wie das Finanzministerium gegenüber dem Namibian bestätigte, sind bis zum Ablauf der Auktion Ende April keinerlei Angebote eingegangen. Versteigert werden sollten insgesamt 11.000 Tonnen Bastardmakrelen. Eine Versteigerung von Fangrechten ohne einen einzigen Bieter gab es bisher noch nie. Bei der letzten Auktion im vergangenen Jahr hatte die Regierung insgesamt über N$ 400 Millionen für die Staatskassen erhalten.
