Die Staatsschulden sind im dritten Quartal des laufenden Jahres auf N$ 148,8 Milliarden angestiegen. Das geht aus Zahlen der Zentralbank (BoN) hervor. Nominal bedeutet das einen Anstieg von 9,7 Prozent im Vergleich zum gleichen Zeitraum 2022. Dank des gleichzeitig deutlich gestiegenen Bruttoinlandsprodukts (BIP) ging die Schuldenlast im Vergleich zum BIP jedoch leicht auf 64,8 Prozent zurück. Die Zentralbank geht davon aus, dass dieses Verhältnis zum Ende des Finanzjahres 2025/2026 auf 61,7 Prozent zurückgehen wird. Über zwei Drittel sind dabei Inlandsschulden, wobei auch die Auslandsschulden dank Darlehen der afrikanischen Entwicklungsbank (AfDB) und der deutschen KfW deutlich anstiegen.
