Der Umweltausschuss fordert eine Änderung der Naturschutzverordnung von 1975. Das geht aus einem Bericht des Ausschusses hervor. So sollen die Lokalverwaltungen eigenständige Entscheidungen im Umgang mit Problemtieren treffen dürfen. Aus dem Bericht geht weiterhin hervor, dass die Gemeinden höhere Jagdquoten bekommen sollten. Auch die Fuhrparks der lokalen Behörden müssten erneuert werden. Von Ende Februar bis Ende März war der Ausschuss in verschiedenen Regionen Namibias unterwegs, um sich ein Bild von der Wasserversorgung, den Minen und den Gemeinden vor Ort zu machen.
