Namibia bezieht mittlerweile rund 30 Prozent seines Stroms aus erneuerbaren Energiequellen. Das teilte Energieminister Tom Alweendo mit. Größtenteils handele es sich dabei um Solarstrom. Nach wie vor würde jedoch bis zu 70 Prozent des erforderlichen Stroms aus dem Ausland importiert. Diese Situation sei nicht tragbar, so Alweendo weiter. Der Minister betonte dabei auch noch einmal die Wichtigkeit von Investitionen in die erforderliche Infrastruktur und Speicherkapazitäten in Namibia. Die Regierung plant bis 2028 etwa 80 Prozent des Energiebedarfs aus eigenen Quellen zu beziehen.
