Schon ein Anstieg der Durchschnittstemperaturen um 1,5 Grad Celsius könnte gravierende Folgen für Namibia haben. Das erklärte Umweltminister Pohamba Shifeta gestern vor der Weltklimakonferenz in Glasgow. So würde der jährliche Niederschlag um weitere 4 Prozent zurückgehen, während die Verdunstung um 10 Prozent ansteigen würde. Zudem hätte ein solcher Temperaturanstieg eine Reduktion der Getreide- und Lebenviehproduktion um zehn Prozent zur Folge. Der Minister erklärte zudem, dass die Nummer der heißen Tage im Land so um 21 pro Jahr ansteigen würde. Die Auswirkungen dieser Effekte würden erneut vor allem die Ärmsten treffen. Shifeta betonte daher noch einmal die Wichtigkeit der Finanzierung von Klimaprojekten durch die Industrienationen.
