Das namibische Handelsdefizit ist im Juli deutlich angestiegen. Die Gegenüberstellung zwischen Exporteinnahmen und Importausgaben ergab nach Angaben der Statistikagentur NSA zuletzt ein Minus von N$ 4,3 Milliarden. Das entspricht einem Anstieg von beinahe 71 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vormonat. Vor allem der Export von Uran, Fisch und Diamanten ging demnach zuletzt deutlich zurück. Die wichtigsten Exportmärkte waren im Juli Botswana, Südafrika und China. Die meisten Waren kamen aus Südafrika, Peru und dem Oman. Aus dem Oman kam dabei in erster Linie Erdöl, aus Peru Edelmetalle.
